About the Hatcher Pass & Independence Mine ATV Tour
There’s nothing quite like the great outdoors. Join us for an ATV adventure of lifetime high in the Talkeetna mountains at Hatcher Pass. One of Alaska’s best kept secrets for adventure, scenery, wildlife and much more. This tour travels through this rugged landscape of towering mountains, glaciated valleys and mountain streams. Hatcher Pass offers not only stunning scenery but gold panning, berry picking and historical mines. You will start your adventure with a brief safety orientation, then you will take an unforgettable three hour tour through the trails of Hatcher Pass. Don’t worry because our experienced certified guides will lead the way! You will find many opportunities to admire the amazing views and take pictures of Alaska’s unique nature and beauty. Our staff works hard to ensure that you are protected during your tour, so have peace of mind knowing that you are safe. This is a perfect way to enjoy the Alaskan wilderness and wildlife.
Hatcher Pass & Independence Mine ATV Tour Adventure
Tour Details
This tour departs at 9 am and will travel over the top of Hatcher Pass* to Summit Lake, which provides 360 degree views of unforgettable Alaska. After lunch at the lake we will continue on to historic Independence Mine where we will explore the past before heading back over the pass for more riding, a little gold panning or berry picking depending on the season. This tour is suitable for all riding abilities. We will work with you to build your skills to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip. Our tours include your choice of an ATV “four wheeler” or a UTV “side by side”. If you want to drive your own machine, the ATV is the best choice for your adventure. If you have children or people not interested in driving, the UTV is the best option. The ATV option is priced per person. The UTV option is priced for up to 4 people. NOTE: If any member of the tour operates ATV machines in a way that we believe jeopardizes their safety or the safety of others we will stop the tour. Refunds will not be issued. Guests are responsible for the cost of all damages that occur during the tour.
What To Bring & What To Wear
Weather in Alaska can change dramatically throughout the day. One moment it can be sunny and the next it can be raining. We recommend you come dressed in basic layers. We do provide rain gear, boots, goggles, a dust mask and helmet which are included in the price of the tour.

TOUR DATES, COST & TOUR INFORMATION
TOUR DATES & TIMES: Tours depart at 7:30am from early May through October from the Downtown Anchorage area. ATV Tour begins at 9am.
TOUR COST: $499/person (includes round trip transportation from Anchorage)
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Minimum Age to drive ATV is 16 years old. Snacks are Included. This activity goes rain or shine. Minimum numbers apply for tour to operate.
WEATHER: In Alaska you must be prepared for any weather. Summer daytime temperatures can range from 50 -70 degrees Fahrenheit. Strong winds and sudden gusts frequently sweep the area. Skies are clear about 30 percent of the time during the summer season and light rain can last for days. Thus, packing for a wide range of weather is recommended.
GRATUITIES: Planet Earth Adventure's tour leaders, staff and drivers and service providers are all paid salaries for their work. They will go out of their way to make your trip special and do not perform their jobs just for money. However, they do accept gratuities should you determine that they performed their jobs at an outstanding level. Gratuities should reflect your satisfaction with their level of service.
CANCELLATION POLICY
A Master Card or Visa is required to make your reservation online. Your card will be charged when you book your trip. We require at least 72 hours notice for cancellations otherwise a cancellation fee of 50% will be charged. No-shows or cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will not be eligible for a refund. Late arrivals that miss the departure will be considered a no-show. *ATV Tour start/end dates vary, please call us if you have questions.
